Honestly, I am brand new to professional outdoor production but have spent most of my life either in the outdoors, producing, or performing-- and in most instances, merging all three together.
I have 30 years of experience hunting, trapping (furbearer/feral hog), and fishing due to my father's simultaneous functions as a professional taxidermist, Pope and Young Record Holder, and ally to the Missouri Conservation.
I've filmed and edited hunts since 2018, when I developed an informational outdoor webseries called Average American Hunter. In 2021, I released sixty episodes of The Whitetail Journals on Youtube.
Although I grew up in the woods, I entered adulthood on the stage. From 2009 to 2017, I went to college for eight consecutive years obtaining two masters degrees (MFA in Shakespeare and Performance with concentrations in Acting and Pedagogy, Master of Literature in Early Modern Drama) and a bachelors of arts in Theatre. In 2015, I developed the Shakespeare and Performance Arts Center's videography department and editing office. In 2016-17, I professed a couple of courses at Mary Baldwin University in both Production and Mass Media. Even though my preferred theatre practices are playwriting, directing, acting, and teaching-- I've been employed to design and produce sets, lights, sound, and props.
The Film the Hunt Course instructors have convinced me that my odd blend of outdoor experiences, post graduate education, and theatre practices have all primed me as a valuably creative story-teller for the outdoor industry. I am eager to work as a professional outdoor producer in any capacity-- filming hunts, editing, writing, collaborating, voice work, et cetera. My career moves thus far have taught me how to display the utmost respect to all professionals, procedures, and practices. I conduct myself exclusively to my job and don't step out of my lane unless other artists/producers ask me to. If they do, I am happy to help (no matter the task) for the betterment of the product and team.
I take a respectable amount of pride in my ability to move, set up, and pack out, quickly and quietly in the woods without any hindrance to best maintain the team's chances of success. Extremely comfortable and effective hanging and filming from all treestand/treesaddle set ups. Active body with no current or previous physical ailments to limit me from activity. When the team does succeed-- I am capable of field dressing, caping, quartering, as well as extra taxidermist preparations such as skinning out gameheads, fleshing capes, and splitting the eyes/ears/nose/mouth in the event the skill is warranted.
All in all, I aim to learn more every time I step in the woods and am immeasurably grateful for every chance given. I'm looking forward to helping create new material and content that makes everybody happy.
